Artist Bio – Juan Enrique Velazquez:
Juan Enrique is a Mexican-American artist, who employs the use of oil painting to express modern realism. Juan Enrique uses his art to shed light, and share perspective, on common human conditions. Though he is a subscriber to the old masters’ technique of glazing layers, Juan Enrique cites Cesar Santos as an influencer, and has begun improvising the background of his portraits to reflect particular emotions, themes, or moods. “There’s a certain elegance to simplicity,” says Juan Enrique, reflecting his attitude toward artistic expression. He believes that artistic work can be more easily appreciated when the focus is narrowed, and the subject is clear.
